Joomla - Media Settings

In this chapter, we will learn about Joomla Media settings . Joomla Media Settings helps you configure global media file options like file format, MIME specifications, file uploads, file sizes, etc.
Joomla Media Settings
Following are the simple steps used to configure Joomla media settings.
Step 1 − Go to System → Global Configuration as shown in the following screen.
Click on Media Manager in the global Joomla configuration. You will see the following screen and fill in the fields with the appropriate values.
Below we have mentioned the details of the fields present in the Joomla Media settings page −

Legal extensions (file types). Specify the extension to upload custom files separated by comma (,) . For example - JPG, PNG, JSON ....

Maximum size (in MB) - the maximum file size in MB, i.e. allowed to download.

File Folder Path − Specify the file folder path, i.e. associated with the root of the Joomla installation directory.

Path to the folder with images - Specify the Path to the folder with images, i.e. associated with the root of the Joomla installation directory.

Restrict Upload - Restricts the upload of image files by the user if there is no dispatcher permission , if no file information or MIME Magic is set on the server .

Check MIME Types - MIME Magic or file information is used to check MIME types.

Legal Image Extensions (File Types) - Check that the image titles for the image files are correct.

Ignored Extensions (file types) - ignores the file types specified in this field, separated by commas.

Allowed MIME Types - Specifies the allowed MIME types separated by a comma.

Invalid MIME types. Specifies invalid MIME types separated by a comma.

Step 2 − Click on Permission and select the required options from the drop down menu.
The following steps describe how to change the permissions for the Media Manager component.

Step (2.3) − Select the permission for the action you want to change −

Inherited - Global Configuration, Component Configuration, Article Manager Options, or Category Permissions are used to inherit the users in this group.

Allowed - Shows the allowed users for this group.

Denied - Shows denied users for this group.
Inherited - Global Configuration, Component Configuration, Article Manager Options, or Category Permissions are used to inherit the users in this group.
Allowed - Shows the allowed users for this group.
Denied - Shows denied users for this group.
Toolbar
Below are the media toolbar options.
Save - saves media settings.
Save & Close - Save your media settings and close the current screen.
Cancel - Cancel the media settings in Joomla.
