Magento - CMS Setup

The Magento CMS (Content Management System) section is used to manage all the pages of the site. It is a way of promoting products by providing valuable information to customers and increasing visibility on search engines. It can be used to create rich content for your online store.

The CMS section contains the following topics −

pages

You can create or customize new pages in Magento. You can include text, images, content blocks, etc. For more information about setting up new pages, you can refer to this link Set up new pages .

Static blocks

A static block is a piece of content that can be used anywhere on pages. Magento allows you to create blocks of content that can be used through the store and can be added to any page or other block. To create static blocks, follow these steps.

Step 1 − Go to the CMS menu and select the Static Blocks option .

The page contains the following fields −

  • Block Title - Adds a title for the block.

  • Identifier − It assigns an id to the block which uses lower case characters, underscores, etc.

  • Status - Set this field to Enabled to make the block visible.

  • Content. Contains block content and uses an editor to format text, creates links, tables, images, etc.

After filling in all the fields, click on the Save block button .

Widgets

The widget allows you to display a wide range of content and place it on the links of blocks in the store. They can be inserted into pages, blocks or blocks can be inserted into a widget.

You can create a widget using the following steps −

Step 1 − Go to the CMS menu and select the Widgets option .

Step 2: To create a new widget, click the Add New Widget Instance button .

Step 3 − In the settings section, select Widget Type and Package Design/Theme and click the Continue button .

Step 4 − Next, the Frontend Properties and Layout Updates sections are displayed .

Under Frontend Properties, fill in the following details −

  • Widget Instance Title - Specifies the title of the widget. It is for internal use only and will not be visible to clients.

  • Sort Order − It is used to specify the block order if specified with others.

In the Layout Updates section , click the Add Layout Update button and set the Display To field to the type of category in which you want the widget to appear. It can be installed with other options as shown in the next screen.

In the Link to Block list , select the section of the page layout where you want the widget to appear, and set the template to Link Block or Inline Template .

Step 5 − Click the Save and Continue button to save your changes and continue editing. Next, the Widget Options panel will open with the following options.

  • Custom Text Anchor - Adds custom text to the widget.

  • Custom Title Anchor - Adds a custom title for the widget.

  • CMS Page - Allows you to select a CMS page with a widget.

CMS Page - Allows you to select a CMS page with a widget.

Once you've made your settings, click the Save button .

Polls

Surveys are used to find out the opinion and preferences of the client. Poll results appear immediately after the response is submitted.

You can create a survey using the following steps −

Step 1 − Go to the CMS menu and select the Polls option .

Step 2 − Next, a Poll Manager window will open where you can add a new Poll as shown in the following image.

Step 3 − In the Poll Information section, enter Poll Question and you can set the status to Open or Closed.

Step 4 − Under Survey Responses, do the following −

In the Response Title field, enter the response as you would like it to appear in the poll for which you entered the survey question, and to weight the response, enter a number in the Number of Votes field . When done, click the Save Poll button .
