Magento - Setting Up New Pages

This chapter shows you how to create new pages in Magento using the following steps:

Step 1 - Login to your Magento admin panel.

Step 2 − Go to the CMS menu and select the Pages option .

Step 3 − It will list some of the existing pages as shown in the following screen. If you want to add a new page, click the Add New Page button .

Step 4 − Next, provide the title of the page using the Page Title field , enter the page ID using the URL Key option . Enable the page using the Status drop-down menu and click the Save and Continue Editing button .

Step 5 − When you save the page, it will navigate to the Contents section with the page title using the Content Title field and the page content. Click the Save and Continue button to proceed to the next step.

Step 6 − Once you have finished with the content section, you can style the page using the Design section, which consists of two sections, Page Layout and Custom Design .

The Page Layout section contains a Layout option that allows you to select the layout of your choice, while the Update XML Layout option inserts the XML code.

The Custom Design section contains fields such as −

  • Custom Design From and Custom Design To are used to set the start and end dates for design changes.

  • The Custom Theme option allows you to select a theme for your page using the drop down menu.

  • The Custom Layout option allows you to select the layout of your choice

  • Custom Layout Update XML option inserts custom XML code

Step 7 − The Metadata section contains a Keywords field which sets the keyword for the page name and the Description field provides a description of the given page. Click the Save Page button to save the page.

Step 8 − You can now see the page created in the list.
